Privacy Policy

The short version

Bow & Budget has no accounts, no logins, no shopping cart and no newsletter. We do not sell data, because we do not collect anything worth selling. Two things do happen: analytics measures which pages get read, and affiliate links set a cookie so a retailer can tell which site referred a purchase.

What we collect

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and where they arrive from. It collects the usual web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring source. It also records when someone clicks an affiliate link, so we can see which recommendations readers find useful.

We use that to decide what to write next. We do not attempt to identify individual readers, and we have no way to connect analytics data to a name.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you type are sent to our inbox by email so that we can reply. They are not added to a mailing list and not used for anything other than answering you. There is no database behind this site — the form sends an email and nothing else.

The form includes basic anti-spam checks: a hidden field bots fill in and humans do not, a check on how long the page was open before submission, and a per-IP submission limit. These use the request itself rather than any stored profile of you.

Affiliate cookies

When you click a product link, the retailer may set a cookie identifying this site as the referrer, which is how we are credited if you buy. That cookie is set by the retailer under their own privacy policy, not by us, and it typically expires within days. Amazon’s handling of it is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, passwords or logins — there is nothing to sign into.
• No payment information. Purchases happen on the retailer’s site, never here.
• No newsletter list, because we do not run one.
• No advertising network trackers or retargeting pixels.
• No data sold, rented or shared with anyone for marketing.

Your choices

• Analytics: a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics, or any mainstream tracker blocker, stops this site measuring your visit. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.
• Affiliate cookies: blocking third-party cookies in your browser prevents the referral cookie being set. You can still buy the product; we simply are not credited.
• Contact form data: email us and we will delete the message thread from our inbox.

Children

This site is intended for adults buying gifts and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something new without updating this page.
