The short version

Some links on Bow & Budget are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be if you had gone to the retailer directly. That commission is how this site is funded and why it is free to read.

Amazon Associates

Bow & Budget is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Amazon is the default retailer for nearly everything on this site, for a practical reason rather than a commercial one: it is the retailer most readers already have an account with, with the returns process most likely to work if a gift is wrong.

Other affiliate networks

A small number of links go to other retailers through affiliate networks. Those are disclosed in exactly the same way as the Amazon links, and where a link buys a recurring subscription rather than a one-off item, the button says so and the page says so — because a subscription keeps billing until it is canceled and that is not a detail to bury.

What commission does not do

Three commitments, and they are testable against our pages.

• Commission does not decide what makes a list. Products are chosen against the criteria on our how we choose page. A product does not appear because it pays better, and it is not left out because it pays nothing.
• Commission does not decide the order. The top pick on a page is the one we think is the best choice for that page’s buyer, not the one with the best rate. Where a cheaper retailer is the better option for you, we link to the cheaper retailer.
• Nobody pays for placement. No brand has ever paid to appear here, no brand sees a page before it publishes, and there is no sponsored content on this site. If that ever changes, it will be labeled unmistakably.

Prices and stock

We do not print prices anywhere on this site. Prices change constantly, and a price written into a page is wrong within days. Every buy button goes to the live listing, where the price shown is whatever the retailer is charging at the moment you click. Availability is the retailer’s too — if something sells out between our review and your click, that is outside our control, and telling us is the fastest way we find out.

What we have not done

We have not tested, worn or owned the products recommended on this site, and we never imply that we have. There are no star ratings, no scores and no review counts here, because we did not earn any. The how we choose page sets out exactly what we do instead.

Cookies

Affiliate links usually set a cookie so the retailer can attribute a purchase to the site that referred it. That is how affiliate programs work across the web. Our privacy policy covers what is stored, what analytics we use and how to opt out.
